Southeast Tennessee is well known for high counts of seasonal allergens and the significant presence of dust and mold. If empiric treatment with various antihistamines, prescription nasal steroid or antihistamine sprays fail, then usually allergy tests and more specific treatments are required. Surgery may be an adjunct to medical treatment if there is associated structural nasal obstruction or chronic sinusitis.
